NPR --"Struggle For Smarts? How Eastern And Western Cultures Tackle Learning

This was an interesting news post by NPR. (In case you missed it, check out this link: Struggle For Smarts? How Eastern And Western Cultures Tackle Learning ) It explores the value of struggling while learning and how cultures view this struggle differently.

Teaching students that it is OK, even worthwhile, to struggle to acheive something  difficult is an important aspect of teaching.  This article highlights the power conversation can have on children. It shows examples of mother/child conversations regarding effort and learning. They are great examples of conversations that teachers can model to change a classes view of struggle.

'a little inspiration for this November!
